Having a pregnant dog at home can bring us many joys, but also many surprises that can leave us amazed, but also speechless. Many people enjoy large families, but giving birth is no easy feat. This is true for animal mothers as well. Fortunately, most canine births are not as dramatic as ours.
Your dog should be perfectly capable of handling the birth herself, as long as the litter does not exceed five or six puppies.
But imagine how exhausting it must have been for our protagonist dog, Diva, to bring 13 little bundles of fur into the world.
Diva is the pregnant dog who caused a stir with her historic birth. She is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier who kept her owners on edge with her gigantic belly.
Meanwhile, the proud father of the puppies was a 13-year-old mixed-breed German Shepherd named Joey. Diva and Joey were about to become parents, but they never imagined so many pups.
At the moment of the massive delivery, the dog was placed on towels, and, panting exhaustedly, she began her labor, accompanied by her human who never left her side and provided unwavering support throughout.
It threatened to be a complicated birth, but she would have the unconditional support of her family in such a difficult moment. At first, with the arrival of the first puppy, the mother felt scared and vulnerable. Nerves caused her to try to sit down in the middle of the process, but her human was there to calm her and prevent further complications. Immediately, she proved to be the best mother in the world for each of her little ones as they came into the world.
The man helped his pet by opening the amniotic sacs of the puppies, while Diva watched over her babies, who instinctively began to nurse.
The first puppy was born in several colors. The second was black. Each puppy was carefully picked up to avoid falling onto the towels.
After the arduous and exhausting labor of this brave canine mother, 12 miracles came into the world, as unfortunately, one of them crossed the rainbow bridge.
Diva emerged victorious from her exceptional birth, bringing 13 creatures into the world. And everything was captured in an amazing video: The scenes show the proud and happy mother’s tender expression, lovingly licking and caring for her beautiful new litter. A truly astonishing family in every sense.
Just as it happens for us, the birth of a dog is laborious. But nature is wise, and this canine mother, despite the tremendous effort, knew what to do thanks to her instinct.
The proud mother knew how to safeguard what she loved most by giving them all her love and protection. Her owner announced that he would try to place all the puppies in responsible homes where they would not lack love.
And if they were not sure they would be received in loving families, they would keep them until they could guarantee their well-being and health.
Shortly after that, they decided to spay Diva because they do not want to expose her to another similar birth. Undoubtedly, it was the most responsible decision, and we are glad to know that she continues to live protected and cared for with those she loves.
Do not forget the sacrifice, dedication, and importance of a mother to the entire animal kingdom. There is definitely only one mother!
