Helping a stray dog is one of the greatest acts of love anyone can do. We cannot deny that the reality for these furry creatures is completely different. Many of them spend their days facing a great battle, seeking shelter to avoid the high temperatures or the cold of the night. Some in more delicate conditions suffer in pain, expecting the worst as they do not receive the necessary help.
Dog with swollen stomach receives the help she so desperately needed. This is the story of a dog who wandered from place to place for a long time, begging for help. With a lost gaze, malnourished, and dry skin, passersby watched her go by.
She had a significantly swollen stomach, leading observers to believe she was pregnant. However, she was actually going through a very difficult situation. Her situation was so complicated that she needed immediate medical attention.
The dog spent much of her time with her head down. It wasn’t until a passerby took pity on her and contacted a rescue group that arrived at the scene with the greatest excitement to save her and improve her quality of life.
She was taken to a veterinary clinic where she underwent X-rays, blood samples, and fluid analysis. This time she had the support of some people who patiently waited for the results.
Her rescuers filled several buckets with the serous fluid drained from her stomach. It was quickly determined that she was not pregnant; in reality, she had liters of fluid in her stomach causing her great pain. Among the discomfort, the large size of her belly made it difficult for her to walk easily.
During the first day, they managed to extract more than 10 liters from her, and slowly her body began to regain its shape. The fluid was being drained, and the pain gradually subsided; finally, her life of pain and misery was becoming a thing of the past.
After draining all the fluid, her poor condition was even more evident; she was just skin and bones. Several sessions were necessary to extract all the fluid. The tests showed that she suffered from ascites, a condition that affects dogs in which a large amount of fluid accumulates in their abdomen.
This can cause a variety of symptoms such as sudden weight gain, discomfort in the stomach area, and loss of appetite. Studies show that it can result from a disorder in the internal organs or lymph nodes.
Ascites in the most severe cases can cause pressure on the diaphragm, thus causing breathing difficulties. It is necessary for a dog suffering from ascites to be taken to the vet so they can receive the proper treatment. Pet owners are also urged to be vigilant with their dogs, as many may believe they have gained weight when in reality they may be retaining fluid.
These symptoms can occur slowly or very suddenly in any case; it is always necessary to see a vet. The treatment can vary, but if there is an infection, antibiotic intake is essential.
The dog was named Fufy. This brave dog proved to be a true warrior; for the first time in a long time, she seemed to be calm. Finally, she would be able to sleep and lead a healthy life surrounded by love. She spent several days in the clinic, but she managed to successfully overcome this great battle.
Now she can lie down without feeling any pain, stand up, and run like any other dog. None of this would have been possible without the compassion and empathy of a person who decided to make a difference and change her life.
