She lowered her embarrassed head as her skin stained the couch

“She lowered her embarrassed head, resembling an alien creature…,” begins the striking tale of an admirable rescuer upon finding a dog in such a deplorable state that she thought wouldn’t survive.

There are angels on Earth, those whom we might dare say deserve to be cloned, because if we found two like them, the world would be a different place. One of those kind souls is from Alabama, United States.

This woman and her partner, Brook Cole, were deeply affected by the arrival of Brooks, a dog rescued from death row.

Since then, they were certain that there are so many animals out there with uncertain futures, begging to be helped, that they vowed to do whatever it takes to keep saving as many creatures as possible.

And for the past 6 years, she has been dedicating herself to caring for injured, sick, or critically distressed animals, but above all, healing their shattered hearts.

That’s how, on the eve of last Christmas, she set out to do something for a dog that the organization was trying to save and urgently needed help.

They found her abandoned in a ditch in the most harrowing conditions.

She was so critical that Lauren genuinely feared she would succumb to her infections before they could take her to a veterinarian.

“She stank, couldn’t see, had lost all her fur, and was bleeding all over the couch. We held our breath for the next 36 hours…,” Lauren recounted once they rescued her.

She buried her head in the couch utterly ashamed.

Fortunately, her wounds weren’t yet so severe as to be beyond saving.

She was diagnosed with demodectic mange and secondary skin infections. She was prescribed antibiotics and ivermectin to combat the infections and mites covering her sore skin.

She needed urgent aggressive medical treatment, or else she wouldn’t survive.

Of course, the adorable Lainey, as they named the dog, never lacked for Lauren’s love and the selfless care of the veterinarian.

As the days passed, as if by a miracle wrought by love, she began to heal, and her fur started growing back.

Before they knew it, a being of light began to emerge, and Lainey was already unrecognizable.

The dog spent 4 months under the strictest care, filled with antibiotics, receiving coconut oil baths, and other medicinal baths, doing everything to keep her from getting stressed and to fully heal the mange.

The best part was that Lainey was not just transformed externally; she no longer had to be ashamed of her appearance or worry about staining the couch with her sick skin. All of that was now a thing of the past.

Fortunately, at the perfect moment, Lauren’s good friend Kelly from Georgia reached out because she wanted to give Lainey the home she always deserved.

“It feels like a full circle. She and her husband are amazing, kind-hearted people who fell in love with Lainey from the very beginning. We couldn’t have asked for a better family for her,” Lauren said.

En una última publicación de hace 2 semanas, compartió su dicha al entregar a Lainey a sus nuevos padres.

«¡Hoy es el día! Después de pasar los últimos cuatro meses juntos, Lainey se dirige a su hogar para siempre», escribió.
